The Elevator Pitch

Netflix Original Film of the Week
Rating: 92% (A-) Must See
"Everyone needs some magic in their lives. Even if they're all grown up." The common criticism against films that head straight to streaming platforms is rooted within the notion that their narratives are never fully engaging and developed. However, the new Netflix original film Unicorn Store lives on the opposite end of spectrum, delivering a narrative that taps deep into the essence of who our main protagonist is. The magic one sees in the world as a child never truly goes away, but rather develops into the wonders that life is able to present. The acting is more than phenomenal and really helps to express the thematic elements rooted within the most moving moments of the plot. At times, the ending of films that reside on streaming platforms are vastly unfulfilling, but this film more than delivers. In short, it's safe to say that Brie Larson did her thing with her directorial debut, delivering a film that was heartwarming and touching to the soul.

Motion Picture Review of the Week
Rating: 90% (A-) Must See
"Your children don't need you to be perfect; they just need you to believe in them." It's always hard to recreate a childhood classic, due to the fact that the expectations set may be hard to achieve. However, the new Disney film entitled Dumbo reaches back to that childhood wonder and produces a product that audiences are sure to enjoy. Every element of this film was beautiful to behold, crafted around a narrative that was both humorous and vastly emotional. The musical score was one that added a touch of wonder to each scene, making the emotions felt so real and pure. The acting by every individual involved was phenomenal and really helped to carry the film even in moments where the narrative begins to lag. In short, the original Dumbo is one that will never be truly replicated, but Tim Burton did an exceptional job creating a narrative that the children of today can hold onto. This film is a lighthearted and emotional adventure that is by far worth the watch.
